1960's
During the early 1950's and 1960's current dressing styles changed and the styles were becoming more accepted. The bouffant hair styles of the time were largely responsible for the decline in the wearing of hats and prayer veils among the younger women and girls.
Jewelry was no longer necessarily regarded as sinful, nor was it considered shameful for a woman to cut her hair or to wear makeup.
In the early 1960's, Locust Grove remodeled the building. The front of the sanctuary was changed, the kitchen facilities and a new entrance added.
Over the years, Locust Grove Church has seen many changes since the building of the church in1859 to present day 2026.
Locust Grove has been a member of the same church denomination from the beginning. In 1859, the building was constructed and used for worship by the "German Baptist Brethren".
On January 17,2021, the Locust Grove Congregation voted to withdraw our membership from the Church of the Brethren denomination. Our official name became the "Locust Grove Church".
